My Shield

"But You O, Lord are a shield about me, My glory, and the one who lifts my head." Psalm 3:3

This is the verse I am clinging to today. Just think that no matter what comes my way, God is my shield. He is my Glory and the lifter of my head.

Put others first!

" Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves." Romans 12:9-10 (NIV)
"Don't just pretend that you love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. stand on the side of good. Love each other with genuine affection and take delight in honoring each other" Romans 12:9-10 (NLT)

How do you honor others? One way people honor others involves ulterior motives. We honor our bosses so they will reward us, our employees so they will work harder, the wealthy so they will contribute to the cause, the powerful so they will use their power for us and not against us.
God's way involves love. As a Christian, I want to honor people because they have been created in God's image, because they are my brothers and sisters in Christ, and because they have a unique contribution to make. I do not always think like this, but I want to. I want to put away my competitive nature and honor others the way God wants me to. It is really simple: Put others first!

"Father, would you run a check on my attitude toward serving others? Help me to take delight in serving even when I feel like I am doing all the work. Grow my love for others as I press on to meet the needs you have created me to meet. Amen."

This is Maggie...

after her grooming appointment today. She is going to have to figure out how to stay warm!!

That's all for now...

That is all the pictures I can share right now. I have to figure out how to get pictures off of one computer and put on another computer so that I can post. That should be interesting since my techo guy is in San Diego for 2 weeks!! I may have to go to techo girls (Taylor and Aubrey) to help me on this one, techo guy has trained them well :)

Coming soon: more pictures from Christmas and pictures from Thanksgiving at Disney World!! Stay tuned :)

Christmas Morning

Here are pictures of Christmas morning. We got out of bed early at our house and opened presents.
Later in the morning, we went to Jody's sister's house to celebrate Christmas with his Mamaw and Papaw and family. We played Christmas Bingo!!
In the afternoon, we went to my mom and dad's house to celebrate Christmas.
Later in the evening, we went to my aunt's house and celebrated Christmas with my grandmother and family. (I have no pictures from my aunt's house for some reason :( I also left my camera at her house and could not find it for awhile.)

It was a great day of celebrating the birth of Jesus.

Catching up on blogging...

I have been so behind in blogging. I have pictures from a lot of things we have been doing!! I will start posting them today and see how far I get!! Another task on the "to do" list today is sending out "Christmas cards" but now I think I will call them "Happy New Years" card or maybe "Happy Valentine's Day" cards :)

This afternoon Maggie is going to the groomer. Here are some before the groomer pictures of her this morning and this weekend. As you can tell she looks warm and furry. I will take one of her tonight for after the groomer :)

Just think...

Here is a message I read today. It is written by DaySpring co-founder, Roy Lessin. It is exactly what I needed at a specific time I needed it. I hope you enjoy it.

Just think,
you're here not by chance,
but by God's choosing.
His hand formed you
and made you
the person you are.
He compares you to no one else-
you are one of a kind.
You lack nothing
that His grace can't give you.
He has allowed you to be here
at this time in history
to fulfill His special purpose
for this generation.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1

"We Will Remember"

"I will remember the works of the Lord; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, and talk of Your deeds. " Psalm 77:11,12

Happy New Year

Today is the first day of 2010, and with it comes great promise and hope for 2010. These are really not resolutions more like goals. Just some things on my heart and in my prayers.

-a successful school year

-a successful new business in real estate

-a family mission trip

-to get in shape and be more healthy. I need to lose weight and exercise more this year.

-to do random acts of kindness this year. Paying for a meal in a drive thru. Helping a mom struggling with several kids in a store. Sending a note when you know someone needs encouragement. Sending anonymous gifts. Lord - open my eyes to people who need help and direct me!

-to be a more attentive wife and mother. I have been very busy this year and have had a lot of hard days. I just want to enjoy every moment with my girls this year. The days are long sometimes but the years are short.
I want to focus on giving Jody more of my attention. He deserves it.

- to be a better friend. I probably neglected a lot of my friends because I just felt overwhelmed a lot of days this past year. I want to do better at sending notes when I know friends need it, doing favors, and just being available to talk.

-to be a better Christian. I want to spend more time with God. I loved and worshipped Him every day - but I didn't always spend time talking to Him or reading His word. I want to grow in, with, and through my heavenly Father, holding TIGHT to the joy he has buried deep in my soul.

How about you? What are your goals for 2010?
